- Null hypothesis
In statistics, a null hypothesis is a hypothesis set up to be nullified or refuted in order to support an alternative hypothesis. The null hypothesis is generally that which is presumed to be true initially. Hence, we reject only when we are quite sure that it is false, often 90, 95, or 99% confident that the data do not support it.
