Periodically, SPIDER updates the add-ins with new features or fixes to minor problems. The Automatic Notification and Update feature allows SPIDER to automatically notify you when an updated version of our software is available so that you can install it right away.

Updates to our add-ins help ensure that the Add-ins work properly and may contain important security changes. SPIDER recommends that you update to the latest version of the software whenever a new version is available, especially when a security update is mentioned. Although you may choose whether to receive automatic notification of updates and how frequently to receive them, SPIDER is not responsible for errors or security problems that occur because the version of the add-in on your computer is not the most current one available.

We value all feedback we receive from our customers and do all we can to address them immediately. You can submit your suggestions and claims 24x7 by phone or email.

For defect, please file your bug in the SPIDER's public bugbase and the our support team can investigate accordingly.

You can file a bug report by using the self-service support center or simply emailing us at support@spiderxl.com. In either case, a new issue will be created in our self-service support center, and you can track it from your account with us.

In any case please report as much details as possible, for instance:

1. operating system;
2. Excel version (i.e. 2007, XP, 2003, etc.)
3. Attach the Excel file;

To Allow Remote Desktop Access you need to do the following:

1. Follow the link: http://www.techinline.com?eid=13d29dcb-fffa-4010-8db2-67d8c61e52e4
2. Click the green "Install the Plugin" link button to install the TechInLine plugin (you will have to restart your browser to activate the plugin).
3. Then click the "Send Client ID by Email" hyperlink (circled in red in the image below) or manually send your client ID to Support@spiderfinancial.com or call us with it at the following number: (312) 324-0367/(888)-427-9486
4. All you need to do now is to give permission to grant our support staff to access your desktop.

The common behavior starts like a successful download, but when the download process reaches 99% an error pop-up window appears saying "it cannot copy the file: unable to read the original file or disk".

Although, the download setup program is securely digitally signed, we have experienced this issue with users who sits behind a restrictive firewall or proxy. The problem does not occur when we used a direct link. As a workaround, please email support@spiderfinancial.com, and we'll send you a direct link of the up-to date product.

We usually release a new major version approximately every 3 months. Nevertheless, maintenance updates, such as adding a feature in response to a specific demand or fixing outstanding issues are released more often.

No, you do not need to buy NumXL again. Just uninstall NumXL from the old computer and deactivate the licensen key. After that, install NumXL on your new computer using the same product key you received with your original purchase.

NO, the license key can be only activated on one computer. For trial and Lite version users, please download a new copy of our website and use the new key included in the email body.

For registered users of the professional version, please contact our support representative to issue a new key.

The message occurs during the direct connection license key activation. The error indicate that license key is not found in our central activation server. Please, check the license code, and try again.

The message occurs during the manual license key activation. The program determines that the activation code is not valid. This can be a result of a number of reasons:

1. License key is mistyped. please, check the license key carefully and try again.
2. The activation code is mistyped. please, check the letters and digits sequence carefully, and try again.
3. The computer used to generate the activation code is different than the one we are trying to activate the key on. If this the case, please deactivate the license key or obtain a new key.

The license key activation is basically a method to unlock the add-in on one computer. The license key can be activated only on one computer.

When you download the add-in, we send you an email with personal trial license key along with instruction to finish the download process. During the trial period, the add-in is fully functional. After the trial period, the license key remains valid, but the software runs now in the restricted functionality mode (i.e. freeware).

For registered users, a permanent license key is sent as part of the purchase process. This key has no expiry, and upon successful activation, the add-in remains fully functional all the time.

The license key activation is not mandatory, and our add-in will continue to work with two main exceptions; (1) it will run in restricted functionality (i.e. freeware mode), and (2) a message box will pop up to remind you to register your license key everytime Excel starts.

Early on, NumXL started as a freeware to entice early adopters (i.e. users) to use our product(s) and help us gain visibility, gather information and feedback from our users to further improve the product, and position our product competitively from other providers.

As the product grew in coverage, we opted to introduce the commercial version of NumXL. Nevertheless, we continue to offer our users a several core functionality for free as part of the NumXL Light version.

YES, You may distribute the setup executable electronically for download, on optical media, magnetic media, or any other form of distribution as long as it complies with the End User License agreement.

In Excel, you can manage the add-ins using Add-ins Available Box". To access the Add-in Box, do the following:

• Excel 2000-2003: Use the tools menu, then Add-ins
• Excel 2007:
  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
  2. On the left bar, click on Add-ins
  3. On the right pan, Find the Manage Box, Select Excel Add-ins.
  4. Click GO.

To load an add-in

1. If the add-in you want to use is not listed in the Add-Ins available box, click Browse, and then locate the add-in.
2. In the Add-Ins available box, select the check box next to the add-in you want to load, and then click OK.

To unload an add-in

1. In the Add-Ins available box, clear the check box next to the add-in you want to unload, and then click OK.
2. To remove the add-in from the menu, restart Excel

Note Unloading or removing an add-in from the menu does not remove it from your computer. To remove the add-in from your computer, you must uninstall it.

Our Add-ins (e.g. NumXL, CalendarXL, etc.) for windows are constantly being tested with all existing Excel versions starting from version 97.

Note: we currently don't have a Mac version of our Add-in, and, as a result, our add-ins are not compatible with the all versions of Excel for Mac.

Using Excel built-in function "TRANSPOSE", a column result array can be transformed to a one row.

Example:

The function EWMAⁱ returns an array of values ordered in one column. To re-order the column into a row,pass the EWMA function formula to TRANSPOSE.

=EWMA(4:13)

becomes

=TRANSPOSE(EWMA(4:13))

Now, select the range in cells in one row, hit F2 to enter editing mode, and hit CTRL+ALT+ENTER.

Excel 2007

1. click on the "Options" button on the toolbar
2. Microsoft Office security dialog box pops up on screen. Scroll down to locate the add-in you have just installed. Examine the certificate, and select "Enable all code published by this publisher". Click OK.
3. You are done! MS Excel loads the add-in now, and removes the security warning from the toolbar. Please, close all open excel workbooks, and restart MS Excel.

Excel XP/2002

1. Microsoft Excel program pops up a security warning dialog when it tries to load the add-in.
2. Check the "trust this publisher" checkbox, and click Next.
3. You are done! MS Excel loads the add-in now, and removes the security warning from the toolbar. Please, close all open excel workbooks, and restart MS Excel.

You can determine the version of Microsoft Office XP or Microsoft Office 2003 by clicking Help and then clicking About Microsoft Excel.

The About Microsoft Excel dialog box reports that a service pack has been installed. The letters SP with a number after the version number are displayed, for example SP3.

The primary benefit of using additional functions is easy access to a powerful set of analytics. Each library function performs a calculation within a single worksheet cell, which can be used as part of a bigger calculation, e.g., Time series analysis. In this way, each function can serve as a powerful building block, or subroutine, for assembling sophisticated spreadsheet models.

Deriving formulas and constructing macros from scratch are error prone processes. For complex calculations, they can demand a good deal of debugging and testing time. And even after a formula or macro has been assembled correctly, copying it to another spreadsheet location or to another spreadsheet can introduce errors. Calling a function within a spreadsheet cell is inherently simpler than solving equations and typing in long, often cryptic, formulas.

You can apply the naming concept for frequently used formulas; the formula doesn't physically have to appear in a cell, and this not only saves memory, but it often makes your worksheets easier to read as well.

Follow these steps to name a formula:

1. Choose Insert, Name, Define to display the Define Name dialog box.
2. Enter the name you want to use for the formula in the Names in Workbook edit box.
3. In the Refers To box, enter the formula exactly as you would if you were entering it in a worksheet.
4. Click OK.

An add-in is an software that add functionalities to Microsoft Excel.  Excel Add-in are writtin in Visual basic for Application (VBAⁱ) or in complied language (C/C++). For performance and scalability purposes, we implemented our add-ins (e.g. NumXL, CalendarXL, etc.) using C++.

All registered users have a password which works like any login password. Passwords help ensure that someone does not masquerade as another editor. Editors should use a strong password to avoid being blocked for bad edits by someone who guesses or "cracks" other users' passwords.

As a rule of thumb a password that is reasonably long, with a mix of upper and lowercase letters and numbers, and not mostly made up of dictionary words or names or personal information (date of birth, cat's name, etc), is likely to be reasonably strong for everyday use. However it is left up to users to decide how strong a password they wish to use beyond this.

Although the definition of "strong password" is deliberately left unspecified, all users are required to use strong passwords and are informed that the developers will occasionally try to crack their passwords and disable those that can be cracked.
